Riding & Horse Barn

Peter and Janice Hodson put their Goodon riding arena to good use. "We use the arena for training horses, riding lessons, summer camps, in-house schooling shows as well as boarding horses throughout the year," said Janice. Their 70' x 160' arena also has a barn attached to it that they will be finishing with box stalls and a wash rack.

"We use the arena all year round," said Janice. "Obviously it's great in the winter but in the summer we've attached facilities on it so we can ride half inside and half out. We've also added a viewing area so parents can watch their children during their lessons."

The Hodsons chose to go with Goodon Industries because of the quality, service and cost-effectiveness of their buildings. "We checked around with many other construction companies and builders," said Janice. "We found that Goodons' prices were more reasonable compared to others. As well, the service was really good-they built this arena in two weeks and our barn was up in less than three days."

The features they find extremely practical are the light panels located on the apex of the roof and along the sidewall. "I've been to lots of other arenas and they seem to be a lot darker than ours," said Janice. "And everyone who visits ours comments on how inviting and bright it is. We don't have to turn on any lights, even when it's overcast. That's definitely something I would recommend to anyone who's looking at putting up an arena."

Riding Arena

"It's like heaven," says Renee Steiner when referring to her new riding arena. The Steiners recently purchased an 80' x 184' all insulated riding arena with an attached barn.

"It's what I've always dreamed of," said Steiner who uses the arena to train her Morgans. "We're making great use of it. We haven't tried it out in the winter yet, but are really looking forward to being able to ride when it's snowing and windy outside."

Their arena is fitted with 10 box stalls, a wash rack, tack room and bathroom. "The service was good-the salesman and crew knew what they were doing when they put this up. I'm really enjoying-and looking forward to doing a lot more riding in here."

Denice & Keith Stewart,

Riding Arena

"We get shut down a lot out here because of the wind and, of course, the snow in the winter time," said Keith Stewart when explaining why he recently purchased a Goodon riding arena. "We'll just get a colt going nice and then we have to put him up.

That's why we decided to put up an arena-so we could train and ride in it all year long."
The Stewarts use their arena for a number of activities. "We rope in it, we get our colts and our other horses in so we can ranch rope off of them," said Stewart. "We'll also get some cattle in and get the horses tracking cattle around. It's great for getting the horses used to having ropes swung off them. Plus, my daughters use it for barrel racing and pole bending."

One of the features that Stewart recommends is the ridge light, which is placed at the apex of the building. "I think the ridge light really makes a big difference," said Stewart. "I've been in a lot of other buildings that are so much darker. The ridge light throws a lot of light in the building. We've been in there on many cloudy days and it's been plenty bright-it's a great feature."

When looking to build a riding arena, Stewart did his homework. "We looked at five or six companies," said Stewart. "Some were in the price range, some were a little more, some were a little less. Overall, we found that we'd get the best building for our money with Goodon."
"They came and delivered what they said they

would and everything was put up in a very quick order. I've got a friend who lives a few miles away and he's got a Goodon building. He's really happy with it so that was a big push in my decision."
"The service was excellent-they showed up when they said they would and were finished when they said they would be. We're also really happy with the service."

Equestrian Centre

When it came to building their dream equestrian centre, Diane and Barry Overton had done their homework. "We shopped around for about four or five months," said Barry Overton. "And we kept coming back to Goodons-we really liked what we saw in the Goodon building."

There were a number of different attributes that attracted the Overtons to the Goodon post frame building. "We really liked some of the unique features that only Goodon offered," said Overton. "The notched trusses, as one example, made a difference to us. We saw this as a strengthening feature. There were more features that attracted us to Goodon Industries-overall, our riding arena is a sound, quality building."

The Overtons were also pleased with the service received from Goodon Industries. "The crew really went the extra mile to make sure we were happy and everything was done correctly. They had to work in a typically 'untypical' spring-meaning the weather wasn't the kindest. Still, they went about their work and got the job done on time and on budget.

The Overtons make good use of their riding arena, using it for all different types of equestrian activities. "We really enjoy our building. Not only do we use it frequently, but we believe it's doubled in value."

Equestrian CentreI chose to buy from Goodon Industries after having seen many of their buildings. They are well built and Goodon provides efficient workmanship. I built this structure mainly for my own pleasure use, and for roping, but it will also be available for local horse clubs to use.
It measures 80' wide by 240' long with 16'8" walls. The arena is heated by natural gas with an average winter temperature of 55 degrees Fahrenheit.

I designed the interior of the structure after looking at numerous arenas.

There is an open mezzanine (800 ft sq.) overlooking the arena and includes a washroom and fireplace for spectators. nside the arena there is also a catch pen with cement floors and an alleyway for stock. Footing is a clay base covered with washed sand approximately 4" deep.
